The Actors Workshop
Back to Youth TheatresDo you dream of being a professional actor? The entertainment industry is highly competitive: the key to success is thorough preparation and excellent training. Quality of training is more important than raw talent!
The Actors' Workshop has become an established centre of excellence in the Southwest, offering expert part-time training for young performers who show exceptional ability for their age.
THE ACTORSâ?? WORKSHOP is not just another drama school. Instead, our inspirational workshops, led by industry porfessionals, build on your existing accomplishments, taking performance skills to a new level and preparing young actors for the exacting demands of the profession.
We aim to give you training and expertise in as many aspects of the industry as we can, including dance, monologues (including Shakespeare), TV and film preparation, vocal coaching, accents/dialect, presenting skills, stage combat, auditions and microphone technique. We also offer specialised individual careers advice and guidance with drama college applications.
Our dedicated college audition class takes students through the application and audition process, covering everything from writing personal statements to finding funds, intensive work on speaches and songs and advice on which colleges are the best match for each individual performer. Currently, our College Course students have been offered places at RADA, GSA, East 15, Mountview, The Drama Centre and the Oxford School of Drama....
Many of our students are already working in the business; others are successfully auditioning for drama courses at colleges in London and elsewhere.
Workshops lead to an annual company showcase with West End agents and television casting directors, and also selected modelling agencies.
Course at The Actors' Workshop are aimed at serious and dedicated performers aged between eight and twenty-one years. Teachers Clara Marullo, Andy Cryer, Chris Donnelly and others are all working professionals with many West End and TV credits, including the RSC, Welsh National Opera, Glyndebourne, Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory, Northern Broadsides, The Bill, Emmerdale, Heartbeat, Les Mis, Barnum, Bugsy Malone and Little Shop of Horrors.
We are affiliated with SRA Agency and SID Casting, but also periodically invite other agents to hold auditions for our members.
