Hello members,

This month has been a great month for us at The Casting Website, from success stories to brand new relationships being created with Casting Directors; we are going from strength to strength!

As you know our main aim is to get as many of our members auditions and jobs. This is not only done through the breakdowns regularly posted on the site, but through the work that is done behind the scenes.

Because of the brilliant reputation of The Casting Website, there are times Casting Director’s will ask for shortlists to be arranged without even posting a Casting Call. In this instance the Office Manager will search through relevant members and personally send the shortlists to the Casting Director. If members are chosen to attend a casting they will receive a message through the site from Rob Earnshaw. This could apply to both ‘Full’ and ‘unpaid’ members so keep your eyes peeled.

We also make sure once a breakdown has passed its closing date the Casting Director is contacted, this is to make sure they have found who they are looking for and offer any further assistance.

The work done behind the scenes is to ensure we get our members as much exposure as possible, although we are a database we like to feel that we have a personal touch, and are approachable at all times.

We would like to congratulate our members who won roles in ITV’s ‘Loose Women’ Christmas DVD this Month. We heard it was an excellent shoot and lots of fun! ITV were so impressed with the service and quality of acting that they will be using us again!

There is a buzz in the office this month as Andrea Arnold’s adaptation of Emily Bronte’s 19th century novel ‘Wuthering Heights’ premieres at the Venice Film Festival. The film stars James Howson, as the first black Heathcliff to be portrayed on the big screen, alongside Kaya Scodelario (Best known for Skins) as Cathy.

Our Buzz circles James, as he was discovered by Casting Director Gail Stevens, thanks to the help of Rob Earnshaw. Rob organised auditions for Gail last year with members of The Casting Website. James responded to a casting call that was put out, and attended with little acting experience. Gail was so impressed he was given the part instantly, and the rest is history!

James did not have an agent and The Casting Website was his only source of information to what was happening in the industry. Now he is attending world premieres and is gaining recognition within the industry, with his co-star Kaya quoting "He has an incredible presence and dignity, and looks beautiful on screen, like a young Jimi Hendrix."

The team here at The Casting Website are all so proud of what James has achieved, and strongly believe that it is a great example of just how being a member of The Casting Website can help you.
